German FG 1250 Infrared Optics

The Battleground 1:16 and 1:18 FG 1250 comes as one piece and does not require assembly and snaps onto the existing turret ring.
The Fahrgerät 1250 Nachtsichtgerät more commonly known as the FG 1250 Night Vision System was comprised of three main components. The large circular headlamp broadcast a 200w infrared beam. The long tubular scope was able to see the infrared light's reflection and therefore allow the user a degree of "night vision" up to about 500 meters. The mount was able to be locked in the same forward direction of the turret to assist in aiming the main gun or rotate 360 degrees when unlocked allowing the user to aim the scope and lamp in other directions for reconnaissance.
In addition to the Fahrgerät 1250 system for the Panther, there were other weapons and vehicles that used variants of Infrared technology to fight at night. One was the Vampir system used by infantry mounted on Stg-44 assault rifles. There were two different Sd.Kfz. 251 halftracks enabled with different night vision systems. One was a search light sized system mounted in the rear bed of the Sd.Kfz. 251/20 half-tracks nicknamed the "Uhu". The other 251 conversion called the Falke used the same components as the FG 1250 and enabled night vision only for the driver's vision port.
